Presbyterian Worship in America: Changing Patterns Since 1787
by Julius Melton

This is a comprehensive, yet compact, classic study (first published in 1967 and expanded in 2001) of how American Presbyterian worship has changed from the 18th to the 20th centuries. It is a very useful resource for the student of early American Presbyterian church history (see here for a longer review).
