An unpublished speech by William Blackburn entitled The Presidents of Hanover College, which was delivered to Hanover students and alumni in 1877. He discusses the lives and work of Hanover's founders and presidents from 1827-1877, including John Finley Crowe, James Blythe, Erasmus Darwin McMaster, Sylvester Scovel, Thomas E. Thomas, Jonathan Edwards, James Wood, George D. Archibald, and George H. Heckman. Other topics include general history of universities and colleges; Indiana Theological Seminary; educational emphasis on classical studies and theology; growth of Hanover College; Madison University controversy; and the cholera outbreak in 1849.
